The Family Christmas Letters
Every year our family writes a Christmas letter. We are publishing them on the Internet for your reading pleasure. As they have been converted from word processing packages, the format is not Internet friendly, but since the extended family enjoys them the formatting must be tolerated. The computer mangled these letters byond repair. Eventually, we will scan them in and display them as a picture as well as what we already have. They will be completely graphical and not readable by Screen readers, by telephone or Cellular Phones.

Now we’re getting into prehistoric times. So far we have found 24 web-years of Christmas letters. We’ll make an archaeological dig into the photo albums to see if we can find more. They may have to be retyped as we were using a 20 MHz computer with ancient software, or in some cases we used a typewriter, which has long since been turned to dust. For 1996 and 1997 we used an old version of Lotus SmartSuite. As Lotus continues to refuse to make its SmartSuite Blind friendly we removed SmartSuite from our computers, deleted files which it uses and don’t allow Lotus products in our home except Lotus Notes. We won’t buy a computer from any manufacturer who puts SmartSuite as part of their software packages. Therefore we will have to type the text of these letters at a later date and perhaps scan them in as a picture and provide that as in inaccessible site.
